Description
- Create highly detailed and stylized 3D character models based on concept art or design briefs.
- Sculpt high-resolution models in ZBrush, Maya, Blender, or equivalent software.
- Retopologize and optimize models for animation and real-time performance.
- Work closely with texture artists to ensure proper UV unwrapping and material definition.
- Collaborate with riggers and animators to ensure models deform correctly.
- Maintain consistency in style and quality across all character assets.
- Iterate on models based on feedback from art leads and directors.
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in character modeling.
Requirement
- 3+ years of professional experience in character modeling (or strong portfolio for junior roles).
- Proficiency in ZBrush, Maya, Blender, or similar 3D sculpting/modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of human/creature anatomy, proportions, and stylization.
- Experience with retopology, UV unwrapping, and mesh optimization.
- Knowledge of PBR texturing workflows (Substance Painter/Mari).
- Familiarity with game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) or rendering pipelines (V-Ray, Arnold).
- Ability to work within technical constraints (polycount, rigging requirements).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with facial blendshapes and facial rigging.
- Knowledge of cloth simulation and dynamic hair modeling.
- Scripting/programming skills (Python, Mel) for tool development.
- Background in traditional art (sculpture, drawing, illustration).
Portfolio Requirements
- Demo reel or portfolio showcasing high-poly & low-poly character models.
- Examples of textured and rendered characters (real-time or cinematic).
- Breakdowns showing workflow from concept to final model.
